i know it's me i must find `

Saturday, July 19, 2008

my first meeting with bizcom mc this morning at ten. it lasted longer than almost any rag meeting so far - ended at around 2pm (yea chris was quite accurate). got to work after that, just in time for the next class. left a few minutes earlier before the last lesson ended for the day, and my dad drove me over (had my dinner in the car!) to PL to catch its once-in-every-four-years musical. yes mrs lee, its four years, not fiveee.

My Father's Gift.

we saw karen and jessie prior to walking into the auditorium. and yea, it was the same difference - looks almost the same, feels the same. anyhow, we started the whole thing with praises to the Lord, PL's tradition; we're together again and come bless the Lord. the former song of worship brought me back to the first day of school in PL sec when we sang it in the hall before our principal addressed all of us.

we saw the familiar faces of our teachers too - mrs lum, ms wong lian hui, ms yolanda chin, mrs judy wong, mrs wong yu ting (no comments) etc. they still looked the same! yea i know, you might say, how much would they actually change, right? but in any case, it was great still being able to recognise and identify them; we almost couldn't make out the names of some particular staff.

principal's speech, as usual. but this time it didn't take that long, apparently. musical started. the show was sprinkled with regular humour, and what made the entire thing complete, exceptional and unique was indeed the singings by the girls on stage. especially by the girl who played micah; oh my you could just fall in love with her please. liked her voice. she was really really good. not to mention the other characters too; they, too, sang well, and all their acting deserve applaud.

this couple sitting beside me - they were middle-aged, yet throughout the show the lady had her head rested on the man's shoulders, and they were holding each other's hands. she would occasionally snuggle up closer to him, and whisper to him a certain thought that came in her mind or to simply share the amusing moment of a particular scene as they chortled together. and i thought they were rather sweet. it's nice to see such couples like that every time, principally when they are no longer thaaat young anymore.

think the cook's assistants (CAs) in the show, besides all the other characters, were pretty droll most of the time. for example,
CA1: "we weren't going to scare you..."
CA2: "we just wanted to frighten you!"
CA1: "we're not stupid..."
CA2: "just not very clever!"

and later also,
CA1: "no no we didn't chop the kids up!"
CA2: "we just burnnned them!"
etc etc.
i forgot quite a bit of the rest already.

together with their cook, a shrewd woman who is full of herself, they make a conniving trio in Jericho. and in their Shell's Kitchen, they sold everything Shell-ish - sea Shell, Shell meat, Shell crab, Shell fish and Shell soup. they also provided Shell-ter for the three girls, apparently.

the girl who played King, too, did a fantabulous job. yea as you realise, all the characters, irregardless of age and gender, were played out by girls. and they did well.

mrs suzanne tan really did an amazing job at the script and song lyrics. she wasn't a member of the staff family there anymore, but she still went back to help despite her present workload.

as for music this time round, it was ms adeline loh once again. the songs were set at a much lower pitch compared to the previous musicals, though. we used to always sing high, you know.

we saw the entire place filled with at least 80% females. there weren't many from our batch, though. in any case, it created a warm and pleasant feeling for me; it was kind of a break away from all the silly, irritating, foolish, unthinking boys out there.

anyway, as expected, for every ten girls we got, there were girls who dressed up and acted as boys, aka bungs (not sure about the spelling). but some of them really looked like boys, if not better. and there was this random guy who evidently is a... guy; he just seemed to endorse slightly feminine features. quite pretty. anyhow, i think its only girls' school girls like us who possess the ability to distinguish between real boys and real girls.

hy and i (:

here's me for the day!

"why so serious?" `

Friday, July 18, 2008

caught the dark knight yesterday. think it's the first time i actually caught a show on its opening day? haha.

it was quite a long show. realised its entire length was at least 2.5 hours? anyhow, yea action-packed. dipped with some light humour every now and then. but i came out feeling there were a couple of deeper issues behind the whole plot. mostly from the joker. okay gory stuff from him aside, the "social experiment" was rather interesting in a sense, cause it played on human psychology, and economics struck me: game theory (:

also, on how easily one can fashion anarchy by playing on the unexpected and being all whimsical and capricious. quoting zimmer, the composer of the movie's soundtracks, "very much in character of the joker, you can never predict what's going to happen next". and that "just as you think things are going one way, we go another way". this too relates pretty much to reality, in various aspects, whichever you can name.

guess there'd be many people going to watch it soon!

fill my heart with song `

wednesday night.

Psycho OG dinner. was supposed to meet them at 630pm at the mrt control station but i went ahead to accompany ho ying for her dinner break before she had to go off for her (third!) meeting for the day. lol it was quite funny cause i saw jeri ann and hui ling as i passed the station to go up the escalator and told them "i'll see you all later"! whaha.

when i joined the rest back at the station, they were all still there! omgg. anyways we walked over to fish&co. at suntec. planning wasn't very ideal cause apparently the organiser of our outing/dinner didn't make any booking! so we ended up in 3 separate tables at three ends of the restaurant (we merged the latter two eventually).

went over to zouk for mambo at 10ish. cab #1.
saw james derek enqing (!!!) and then shawn. guess the whole world's out there that night!

it soon became too packed for us girls to get into phuture (as expected) and so the guys just went into just zouk alone with us. we practically stoned there till almost midnight when the dancefloor started filling up with the mambo-goers.

got a hard time getting outta the place and at one point of time i walked into a dead end! then this random guy turned to me and said "so...", as though he knew me! i reckon he must have mistaken me for somebody else! scary lil incident #1. and then i walked into another wrong flight of stairs up! :/ so i (omg) had to ask this other random person how i could get outta the place! whoops.

hmm. verdict for mambo: so-so

went over to mos soon afterwards (i stayed barely half an hour when the mambo started) to meet serene sam their friends sherm and dan jr. cab #2. was waiting for them to come out to meet me and go in together when i suddenly realised this dude, sitting nearby from where i was standing, was having his big round coloured eyes staring at my direction! scary lil incident #2. fewer good-lookers over here. anyways, i think my butt got into contact with a couple of hands from some girls near me that night. don't know which was worse: this, or the indiscriminate hand that landed on the back of my shoulder previously at zouk.

LOL. look at sherm's scrunched-up face. courtesy of my cam's double flash. and in that dark place... sorry!

anyhow, it was uber packed inside and when i had to leave early to go home it was quite a mad squeeze out with dan. thanks so much for escorting me out dan! (:

got home in cab #3.

verdict for mos: so-so

as you can prolly guess, clubbing's not my type and i don't fancy it at all!

for more, check out my album (:

i want to smile again `

i need my chocolates.

This road that I’m taking twists and turns
My life my chance turning dreams into reality
Down this path faced with many things
Sometimes I feel like giving up and turn away
Can’t seem to go on and I’ve been thru’ this before
Now where am I? Where do I stand?
A little lost here
But I’ll remember
All those times you’ve brought me thru’
I’d be a fool to give up cos’ the goal is near

arts camp down.
union camp down.

what's left: cmc (oh yes) and rag (25 more days!!).

shall start with UC 08.

took quite a number of photos; this number lies in the 400-ish range.
my cam used around two and a half pairs of batt!
i'm glad i had my cam around with me (:
grateful for it too.
check out facebook for the pictures.
five days, nine albums.

well i guess there were a couple of differences between it and arts camp.

honestly i didn't have any expectations of UC cause it's my first time going for it this year, though i'm a facilitator/councillor for it. so you'd see me hanging around with+like the freshies most of the time. and true to our Psycho motto (lol sounds like psychomotor!), they're really quite Siao Onz! :D

1. cheer wise, arts camp beat UC hands down. people comment/complain that christina made too much noise and was so full of energy etc., but at arts camp, all the OGs were like that. not to mention the house ics, especially A house's. she's really crazy, but i really think the girl last year's was legendary.

2. OGLs are the ones who rara, cheer and scream the whole OG and camp on. at UC, it was more of the councillors, though not many.

3. cheers were roughly the same? i guess this applies to all the other camps in NUS and perhaps the other tertiary institutions as well. but arts camp definitely has a number of cheers in addition to those heard at UC.

4. before you start thinking that i favour arts camp more - they're just different in essence. no comparison; i call them 'differences' (: i guess UC has an edge in terms of welfare for all campers. camp comm as well as OGLs. you'd see the first-aiders busy many a time, and according to ser xing, "just as i'm about to sit down and eat, another person comes injured!"

5. alright this may sound a lil redundant but yea. there're four vj peeps in my OG in UC! none in arts camp. hee :D

omg i got my second splinter during the camp. i brushed my left hand down the side of my room door while going out and hence nicely ended up with a lil piece of the wood inside my index finger. sx tried taking it out (i felt more brave this time round!) in a couple of attempts and both of us almost thought it wouldn't come out! fortunately it finally did (:

SP night! yeaa for the first time in my camps in NUS there weren't enough female councillors so i had to go down too! hahaha. well it didn't turn out too bad (:

slumber party was pretty cool! there were the pillow fight within our OG (okay let's not talk about it) and on stage, as well as a host of other activities such as shake-your-bon-bon (LOL), some mini dance contest, and of course, the pageant - part one and part two.

the final day of UC was purely talks from and on NUSSU, and primarily photo-taking. here you go (:
